![]() Bob Greene is an exercise physiologist and certified personal trainer specializing in fitness, metabolism and weight loss. Bob first made a name for himself as the personal trainer for Oprah Winfrey with whom he co-wrote his first New York Times #1 Best Seller, Making the Connection: Ten Steps to a Better Body and a Better Life. Bob's goal is to help as many people as possible commit to a healthier and happier lifestyle. Although he is not a fanatic on the subject, he truly believes that exercising, eating healthfully and making health-conscious choices can change your life for the better. Even as a child, Bob took nutrition news seriously. He would read articles in the newspaper about the health hazards of nitrates added to meats and the harmful effects of pesticides on fruits and vegetables and would lobby his parents to banish unhealthy foods from the table. His concern for his family's well-being eventually led to a professional interest. Bob studied health and physical education at the University of Delaware and earned his master's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Arizona. After earning his degree, he became the Director of Exercise Physiology for a medical management company specializing in heart and pulmonary conditions. He later ran the Health & Fitness Institute, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making people healthier through diet, exercise and lifestyle modification. Bob was working at a spa in Telluride, Colorado, when he first met Oprah. He later moved to Chicago to help Oprah stay fit and train for a marathon. Five years, Oprah's 90-pound weight loss, many races and a marathon later, he was still in Chicago and loving it. He had a booming training practice and was able to reach millions through Oprah's television show and the books they had written together. Bob is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise, and he was the Health & Fitness correspondent for ABC TV's "Good Morning America." For the last two decades, he has worked with many individual clients helping them to get fit and lose weight and has written and lectured extensively on health, fitness, weight loss and motivation. Bob truly believes that we all have the inner strength to make beneficial changes to improve our lives and his goal is to help us find that strength and guide us along the way to good health. He has been a frequent guest on the "Oprah Winfrey Show." He is also a contributing writer and editor for O, The Oprah Magazine and writes articles on health and fitness for Oprah.com. He is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Get with the Program! and Total Body Makeover. His latest book, The Best Life Diet, gives you the tools and guidelines that will help you claim the life you deserve and make living your "best life" second nature. |
